Operation Smile's volunteer medical professionals travel around the world to treat children suffering from facial deformities. Their efforts mean new smiles for thousands of children, including these former patients:

Sam Sam Moe and her family live in a village in Thailand, but are Burmese. She has 2 brothers and one sister and is the youngest child. She is the only one in her family with a cleft. Her parents have a home business where they make Thai noodles from scratch and cut them with a small machine. They have saved money to travel when surgery was available. One of their neighborhood children heard about the Operation Smile mission on television. They had been waiting for a hospital to have a program for surgery. The whole family is very happy with her surgery.

Sam Sam Moe’s aunt and uncle on her mother’s side both have cleft lips and palates. Her young male cousin was also getting surgery.
